Single speed limit entry sign?
Discussion
Driving home tonight on the motorway and come across a single 50 limit sign on the left followed by the start of cones for roadworks. I initially thought it was a repeater left there from old works, but then see the cones and works.
Start to back off thinking I've missed the 50 entry limit signs only then to see a speed camera van parked in the roadworks on the hard shoulder! This is at 00:15...
Has the law changed so as to only require one speed limit sign on a limit change now?
If it has then I'm screwed

Are you sure that it was a proper speed camera van and not one of the site worker vans - often in roadworks the site services van will have speed camera signs on it and will occasionally monitor construction site traffic for speed, not necessarily the main carriageways
Good question as I did wonder that - but the camera poking out of the back did seem to be aimed at the carriageway.Guess I have to wait a few weeks to find out (car is a lease).

Back to NSL after temp limit
I read somewhere that in the event of NO NSL being shown then the reversion to NSL is at the roadworks END sign
The actual speed limit will depend on the restrictions order. Whether it can be enforced will depend on the sufficiency of signage. There are fewer hard and fast rules but the guidelines remain pretty much the same and, where the signs fall short of the guidelines, then they should meet an objective test. It says they may have to justify why the guidelines are not being met but I don't know what this would look like in practice. I read somewhere that in the event of NO NSL being shown then the reversion to NSL is at the roadworks END sign

There was no end sign either. This was a very short section of roadworks, I'd guess 400m or so.I read somewhere that in the event of NO NSL being shown then the reversion to NSL is at the roadworks END sign
Really strange setup at least to me, but I guess I've learnt something new

Scameras after midnight? I know there’s been some debate on this on PH, but is this a real risk nowadays?
Yup.Saw a night time camera van in North Yorkshire a few weeks back. Had a big array of IR lights hanging on the back.
Luckily every car coming the other way was flashing their headlights so I assume they caught next to nobody.

Driving around 1am today I saw a couple of roadworks being set up on the M25 and A1(M) where a single 50 sign had been placed, men were putting out cones, then there was no "End", derestrictor or other signs to indicate a return to 70mph. Really strange setup at least to me, but I guess I've learnt something new

If you've followed the reduced limit where it would reasonably apply (i.e. you were driving up a road devoid of workers, cones etc and thought "did I miss the end sign?" before accelerating), and they can't be bothered to set up the roadworks properly, I'd argue the toss on any ticket you receive.

I slowed once I saw the lights from ongoing works, but as it was such a short stretch of roadworks I'm sure i was in range of the camera van by then. I drove past the same stretch again today and with HGV's on your inside you can't even see the 50 signs! If you've followed the reduced limit where it would reasonably apply (i.e. you were driving up a road devoid of workers, cones etc and thought "did I miss the end sign?" before accelerating), and they can't be bothered to set up the roadworks properly, I'd argue the toss on any ticket you receive.
