Dealer Not Paying me Tr Difference - How Patient Should I be
Discussion
Hi all
I'd appreciate some views on my current situation.
In early December I traded in my car to a BMW dealership with outstanding finance and collected a new car.
It took them over a week to settle the outstanding balance, which was less than I owed (by only £130). FFWD to today and my emails to the sales chap have been ignored and im still waiting. Ok it's only £130 but it's the principle.
I'm going to email the finance chap tomorrow to chase up but realistically how patient should I be before I get more serious i.e. small claims?
I took the new car out on PCP so am considering clearing it off to eliminate the interest and therefore the commission.
Thanks!

No I haven't called but we almost exclusively emailed during the sale and he was excellent with communicating. So this is unusual.
It's possible I may have cheesed them off as I got a bit pushy when it took them over a week to settle the outstanding finance on my trade-in. IME (from other dealerships) it gets sorted within a day or so, so felt over a week was poor. After all, you wouldn't sell your car (or purchase one) and expect not to pay for a week or so.

I bought a car a while back (years ago) and did a lot of communication by email as well as phone. After purchase it developed issues and the guy i needed to speak to was never there/emails not answered. I used a second email address which must have got put through to the 'not bin' and a different salesman and i got an answer pretty much immediately. What i'm trying to say is, it might be that if its not a sale they'll filter it out and you need to chase more. It's possible I may have cheesed them off as I got a bit pushy when it took them over a week to settle the outstanding finance on my trade-in.
