Hoist by own petard?
Discussion
We've all seen the YouTube submissions where the video uploader claims a prosecution arose for the other party for driving like a knob. We've also seen the ones where someone has been prosecuted for doing something illegal and posting their own footage. But...
Are there any cases where someone has reported another party to the police and found themselves under investigation/prosecuted for also driving like a knob? Or is no-one that dumb?
As a dashcam owner myself, I can't stand DCWs and there are so many examples where they create conflict and drive as bad or worse than the subject of their videos...

One would hope so but the ineptitude and general disinterest the police have in actually investigating something would make me think the other party would have to do all the running for anything like that to happen.I've always maintained that if someone reports me for something accidental that had no consequences and I'm prosecuted I will do all I can to find something on them, even if its shed in the garden build outside of regs. He who is without sin should cast the first stone etc.

[pedant] Hoist is the past participle of hoise, an obsolete verb meaning to raise. [/pedant]

Apologies for sloppy grammar in the OP, I ain't got no excuses for that.

Hoist by his own petard - hoist ( raised into the air) by his own bomb. ie no one to blame but yourself for your misfortune. Poetic justice
A petar was a small bomb with a very short fuse used to blow open doors or gates, often the short fuse in fact killed the person using it.
A modern example, a person raises an action to prevent a neighbour building a new garage. It is discovered that his own building work is illegal and has to be pulled down. Meanwhile the neighbour's garage goes ahead.

It gets better though; Derivation of petard:A petar was a small bomb with a very short fuse used to blow open doors or gates, often the short fuse in fact killed the person using it.

Le Pétomane, a shortish film about musical farting gone wrong starring Leonard Rossiter, is well worth a view.
