Highly amused to watch a Ferrari drive through a forward facing mobile speed camera set up with no front plate. I have no idea at what speed he/she was travelling but the policeman operating the tripod mounted equipment showed zero interest!

Lots of super cars drive around with no front plate without issue.

Yep. Law doesn’t apply to them, it seems.

It's a £100 fine and no points so if they are inclined they can pay whenever anyone can be bothered to issue a notice and they may even get a VDRS chance so even easier.

Sadly, there are lots of cases where if you are rich enough, fk it.

Water lane, wilmslow. Not a day goes by without some prick parking on the yellows in town safe in the knowledge that 60 quid is nowt to them. Especially popular amongst people that shop at prestons diamonds.

Its a pity, one of them has a gorgeous mk1 capri in yellow / vinyl and if it wasn't for the bellend parking he'd be the coolest bloke in town.

About as amusing as a ‘traveller’ defying the law.

^ Not quite. Those awfully nice travellers are probably up to no good.

I'm sure there are plenty of Ferrari drivers who are also up to no good! wink

Most have video cameras facing the other way to grab plates of bikes etc so most likely they'll just get the plate from that.

yes Unfortunately that appears to be the case.

Personally I think if (in the unlikely chance) someone gets stopped then the car should be classed as unroadworthy and seized. And repeat offenders should end up with a number plate riveted to the bonnet.

The speed camera operators wont care but oher areas of the force do.

South yorkshire police only posted yesterday about doing an M3 for exactly this.

I used to run mine without but as it's become more popular and the fines gone upto £100 it's not really worth it.

I've noticed a lot of people running tinted plates now, why that isn't yet clamped down on by the police is baffling.

I don't think tinted plates are as common as 5-10 years ago. I very rarely see any these days.

The latest fad seems to be fitting ultra bright rear number plate lights that not only obscure the plate but dazzle following drivers.

When I was young and stupid I took my front plate off

Whenever a copper saw me they would pull me

Slowed down journeys somewhat and never fun pulling into the works car park with the police in tow

Why though?

Most speed cameras are looking at the rear plate, so not sure what you achieved.

I believe the law is only that the plate must be an illumoreflective background with black text (of the correct sizing etc, obvs) - anything else do with the plate composition is not stipulated, so I believe as long as the background of the plate is still reflective, it's legit...

Lets be honest, most cars look better without one.
