Looking for a new, used car at the minute. Whilst browsing I decided to check the mileage on an estate I quite liked the look of and noticed it had three MOT tests in 2015, all passes. Two of them were within the same week then next one six months later. This is followed by another two MOT’s in 2016, again six months apart and both passes. I’m thinking sold by a dealer so re tested for new buyer but not too sure?

There is also another car that shows full dealer service history and the they have shown a photo of the service book. Funny thing is, it shows the book stamped by the same dealer for the following year with no date or mileage written downeek

This is a very strong possibility.

What does the mileage show?

It’s a 2011 car with 104k. That would certainly make sense, but the mileage is not particularly high for its age.

Mileage is not that high which is in someways worse if it has been used as a taxi, it means mostly town work and short runs which will put much more stress/wear on suspension, clutch etc.

If in doubt as they say.

Or it's been clocked.

Yeah, it’s been removed from my search.

Any thoughts on the other car? Not a bad price for what it is, but the service book seems dodgy. Only thing I can think of is he has his own stamp, but I imagine if caught could be pretty serious. I’ll ring him and see if I can get an explanation.
