Sadly I was done for speeding late at night on one of those a 50 mph roads that look like a motorway.

Been offered a speed awareness course.

Offence in Manchester. I live in Essex and rarely go to Manchester

Looks as though I can either go on course in Manc or use some national scheme.

Is there any benefit to taking the hard road of going up to Manc. If I get done speeding in the future in Essex cpuld it keep an essex speed awareness course on the table for example.

Or is everything connected and I might as well do what's easiest for me?

All pretty much connected, so choose the local one.

Afaik Dorset is the only one which isn't in the national scheme.

AA DriveTech should be able to offer courses close to home. I had the choice of one in Waltham Abbey near me. On the back of the letter, there should be other courses. They update the police when the course is completed. Very good courses, informative too. Not PowerPoint slides and telling off anymore wink

Dorset? They use Wicker Men, IIRC.

You can do it anywhere. Don't they publish the prices so you can see where its cheapest? failing that just do it where its convenient.

Yes, all are connected apart from one or 2.
Just attend in that Essix.

I chose a local one which was £20 cheaper than everywhere else - check prices! Saved me a long journey and a bit of cash; win-win. smile

Is there a time period you have to do one in?

Hi. My driver at work has been done by speed cameras more times than I can believe.Yet another photo of him dropped throught the door a couple of months ago. Concerned at the impending points ban, I called my insurers and they suggested I ask for his licence. Imagine my amazement....CLEAN! When asked, he said he'd done speed awareness courses in just about every county. He's done four that I know of.
On that basis, and bearing in mind the inefficient Govt run bunch who run the whole operation, I would suggest it isn't that well linked at all.

Most (all?) forces use the NDORS system for booking the courses
https://www.ndors.org.uk/courses/find-course/

However, unsure what system registers your licence as having taken the course over the points, wouldn't suprise me if it isn't noted on each offence.

The ones not on the national system require (or did) you to declare you’d not done a SAC in the previous 3 years, those on the system seemingly don’t ask, they say you’ll only be offered one if eligible.

I got my two in the right order so no issue, but I can imagine a few have lied if asked the question to avoid the points.

Warwickshire was the odd ball not in the scheme although that was a few years ago
