I just thought someone this has happened to would before would come along to comment.not so much worried about the fine but rather the ‘virtual licence’...

The virtual licence is something I wasn’t aware of.
Out of interest, what sort of speed were you doing when flashed? More than 135?

Ignore that...they spell it license, so no respect earned.

Hi guys
Just a heads up I got a French speeding fine sent to my address in the U.K. and U.K. registered car.only 135km in a 130km so not a huge fine 45 euros and 1 point but nonetheless I would watch out.
What is it that you want to know dear chap?

I don't understand the post at all.

I'm guessing from the posts above the "points" go on a "virtual" French licence rather than the DVLA issuing them to your UK licence?

I've driven France, Belgium, Germany a lot going again this year so would be good to know and avoid.

I got done in Germany last year and received a letter through the post. Initially it wanted to know who the driver was etc etc. I duly replied it was me and got a couple hundred Euro fine. It also mentioned a one month ban.

After a few weeks I received a letter confirming I had paid and was now requesting my date of birth. Ignored this as I have fulfilled my obligations by paying. A few weeks later another letter arrived . All of them in German , which is really helpful knowing they are sending it to the UK !!! Basically stated that if I do not send my UK driving licence to them for "safe keeping" then my ban will be deferred for 4 months before the one month ban starts.

I am no way going to be sending my licence to them as I need it for work and my theory is all they want is my date of birth to create a German Virtual licence to then enforce the one month ban - unfortunately for them , they have no legislative powers to enforce this part of the process. Perhaps even less once Brexit happens.

I have no plans to revisit Germany so they can poke it !!!

Damned Johnny Foreigner with his pesky rules (which even have the impertinence to be quite similar to proper roast beef flavoured English rules). You can avoid going to Foreignland if you wish. You can also go there and slow down a bit. One French point only lasts six months anyway. Typical shoddy foreign stuff, not like those longer lasting English points, eh?

Surely they don`t want your actual licence posted? Why don`t you just send them that licence summary print out from DVLA, with the code that lasts 21 days. Mind you I regularly hire a car in Germany and they have never asked for it.

That's got to be a mis-translation, they can't possibly expect to keep your licence, what if our authorities want to see it?

Doesn't make sense.
