MOT fail ? Windscreen washer light....

Hasn’t it changed recently whereby any failure of a warning lamp is a fail ?

Faulty sensor.
As far as the MOT is concerned, all warning lights should illuminate when the ignition is switched on, and extinguish when the car starts up - Your washer light doesn't, hence the failure.
If you had to drive in crappy weather, when there could be loads of dirty spray coming off lorry's and such like, and you'd need to to use your washers often, unless you checked your washer fluid level before you set (how many people really do?), you'd have no idea that your washer fluid was low and needed topping up until you pulled for the wash/wipe, got nothing, and had to drive with restricted vision through the screen due to all the smeared dirt on the screen.

OP. I’m guessing you have a question about wether it will fail, not that it has already?
Some cars don’t have washer fluid level warning lights, so i don’t believe you can fail for having a defective light. Unless it’s changed recently, the tester tests for function of washers, which is why you can fail if it’s all working but the reseviour is empty.
If they test them and they work, it passes. If the light is on, it doesnt mean the reseviour is either empty or that they don’t work, so shouldn’t fail. Light on is an advisory that level is low.
Travelling with a low level of fluid is not a crime or offence despite what other posters might be inferring.

Pretty sure that only lights that come on at start up that should go off after a self check but subsequently don’t go off are failures. People are getting very confused about the status of dashboard warning lights as part of the MoT - only certain lights are prescribed as fails.

Emissions, engine, brakes, abs etc. All light up but go off. If they don’t light up at start or if they don’t go off, that would be a fail.

Thanks. Unfortunately many modern cars are virtually inaccessible. All I can see / get to is the filler cap, the tube then disappears .I will get it sorted at next service but mot due before.
