M62 J29 smart motorway

Hey guys!

Just looking for a little advice, I joined the M62 from the M1 heading eastbound yesterday and didn't notice the 50 limit was being enforced until I passed the first gantry. It didn't look to have a hadecs camera on the side should I be OK?

I know it's my fault anyway, just wondering if anyone knew the area well 😊

Yeah you should in theory be okay - wouldn’t worry too much

The cameras don't start until about half a mile after J28 Tingley if you were going westbound. You can safely ignore any speed limits but take heed of any red X closed lanes because camera enforcement for those is now believed to be live.

I got on from the M1 which is I think 29 thanks for your advice though dude

Yes, the M1 is J29 - Lofthouse interchange. Were you heading west or east from there? If west then J28 is your next junction and the cameras don't start until after that point. Ignore the white speed camera lines on the road as they were originally painted for the old HADECS2 cams sat on the gantries above each lane but they never got installed on that section between 28 and 29.

I was heading east towards, Castleford. It was only the very first gantry after the slip road I went through.

No cameras between 29 and 30 - keep your toe in!

The grey ones I saw in gantry must just be traffic cams 😊
