'cos I have a lousy memory & think of stuff when driving. Trying to write on a pad whilst driving proved too much of a challenge.
It is a very old Dictaphone used when issued with a Rover as a company car about the time mobile phones were the size of a house brick.
Held discreetly as I natter away I can see its no different from using a mobile phone which themselves have a recording facility these days so I'm led to understand.

Phone laws don’t apply to using a dictaphone. So not an automatic no no. But you could be done for driving without due care and attention.

Wrong. It was admitted that he was using a mobile phone but SNCTA regarding interactive communication function.

Proper control offence would be easier to prove than careless driving.

You could have a dashcam with audio options. When you come out with something you think is worth saving you can manually save it.

Would avoid any potential issues.

Still used in private health care/NHS, Drs talk into them and then the notes get typed up by medical secretaries.
