Hit by can thrown from another car

First world problem, but I'm just pissed and don't want the little turds to get away without some sort of consequence.
Driving A1 London, in the outside lane and car comes up behind me, I pull into the middle lane to let them by. Car passes and I'm coming up to a car in the middle lane so pull out again to outside lane. Driver throws a can of Redbull out their window which bounces along and hits the front of my car. Not sure how bad damage is but will check when daylight.
Have all this and registration clear as a bell on dash cam. Camera is one of those Nextcam Duos and I've bumped the rear one so was angled backwards out rear drivers door, so even have clear shot of the face of the driver as they came by.
What can I do here? From what I understand from my Googeling, please chime in if otherwise
- If there is damage it's an insurance thing and I'll probably get an increased premium even though it's not my fault. (and anyway how much damage can a can do)
- Report them littering?
- Report them to the police? (feel it's a bit of wast of their time)
I would report it, worst case nothing happens, there's a chance the driver might get a call that will scare them a bit.

Really?I've had a couple of bad experiences with such people who think it's fine to flick a smouldering dog end out of the window. I've also been known to return said items when the chance arises. Someone flicked one out that landed on my dog when out walking, said person stopped to turn around 20ft further down the road, said person got a bit of a shock when I dropped dog end through the window on their nice smart clothes (still smouldering), adding "I believe this is yours"

I'm not sure if the data bases are shared but my worry would be that once you involve the police that technically this is classed as an accident and will be kept on record as such.....meaning your insurers will want to know (and now can??) so they can hold it against you at renewal time.
Worthwhile checking as if the damage is light and you were not going to claim it is possibly you who loses most if you now have a record you need to declare for a few years and which may lead to higher premiums.
Or is it possible to give the information to the police but not your car reg? Unlikely as they probably will check you were insured, taxed and all that, too....
