Fair enough, that makes sense, but the warden who was about to ticket me never mentioned anything about my car or about only vans or lorries being allowed there, but put the emphasis on "goods only", as if the issue is that food delivery was not considered "goods". So just to clarify are you saying if I get a "van" like a Peugeot 207 van (looks very much like a regular car) that I wouldn't have any problems parking in the loading bay?

Then it's restricted to actively loading goods to or from a goods vehicle which is a motor vehicle constructed or adapted for use for the carriage of goods, or a trailer so constructed or adapted. So yes a car derived van would be fine.
This is for loading by any vehicle .

I had a similar experience years ago, as usual I parked my E36 coupe in a loading bay for five minutes whilst I collected supplies for my business.
The warden was writing a ticket as I appeared with a barrow load of goods, I protested, he said it was a loading bay for goods vehicles only. I pointed out my tax disc which was PLG and therefore my car a goods vehicle.
He said it wasn't as it would not be insured for business use, of course it was but he radioed in and checked anyway, on receiving confirmation he said he would let me off this time but not to do it again.
I continued to use the bay for five minutes twice a week as normal and never received a ticket though I saw the warden trotting up the pavement a couple of times but I was gone before he arrived.
What riled me at the time was that a delivery driver from the local builders merchants used to park in that bay for 30 minutes every day to eat his lunch, as it was a stickered up van he wasn't ticketed even though no loading/unloading had ocurred.

Not a blanket restriction. Refer to the sign attributed to each bay for clarification. Yet another thread where the OP deletes the initial post to try to terminate the thread, or hide something!
