Discussion
This isn't particularly an SP&L topic but there's nowhere else obvious to post it.
I have a quick query about insuring a lease car. I have taken out a lease for a small car which MrsC will be the main user of. It's in my name because she doesn't currently work, so it was easier to finance the lease via me. So, in summary:
- car lease/finance in my name
- lease company will be RK on the V5
- primary driver will be MrsC
I know (from checking) that some insurance companies won't insure when the lease company are the RK (for instance, we can't transfer her current insurance from her current car to the lease car - Tesco say No).
So my question is, will we be able to insure it in her name despite her not being the RK OR the lessee? Using the Meerkats, it seems that we can answer all questions honestly in respect of doing it this way, and get quotes. It doesn't ask anywhere who is the lessee.
If we had to insure in my name with her as a named driver, I guess that could technically be looked upon as fronting, but for the record, cost-wise, there's just £4 difference on an annual policy between her insuring it with me as a named driver and vice versa (and actually it's £4 dearer for me to insure it), so we wouldn't be doing it for that reason. It's just to check how best to proceed so that we can get the car on cover correctly.
Thanks.

Once you are married what's yours is hers and vice versa, insurance companies take the same view and provided you answer all questions honestly there is no problem with one of you owning it and the other insuring it.
Which doesn't deal with his question.....neither of them own it. TwigtheWonderkid said:
