Courier Smashed Item

Ok so I sold a framed item on eBay. Sent it Monday with Parcelforce 48. Packed it with three boxes and a dozen layers of bubblewrap and about a few miles of Fragile tape. It arrived this morning and it the frame has been destroyed with the custom made glass shattered to pieces and scratched the piece underneath.
I upped the insurance but Parcelforce has told me that under their protection guidelines that glass isn't covered. According to the assistant on the helpline. "we carry up to 30kg so things might bit set on top of the item and break it" So if that is the case why even bother spending money on decent packaging if they are going to treat it like s

The item isn't something you can just pull out of a hat and the frame is custom size.
So do I claim for the full amount and. forget the glass or are Parcelforce just trying to get out of paying up for their delivery driver or handlers approach.

typically glass is included in their list of restricted items (Items they will ship but are not liable for the damage to).
I would cheekily add the cost of the glass to the value of the item. A good framers should be able to fix it at a relatively low cost.
My Mrs is an artist and I regularly help her ship framed pieces. We usually end up building wooden crates to ship them in and to date all have arrived intact (touch wood)

This is what you should have done before sending it tbf. Having 'fragile' tape around it It would have been booted around a warehouse, other stuff piled on top and generally abused by the unwashed knuckle dragging, dirty hi vis wearing cabbages employed by parcel farce.
A drop kick during the five a side during break would have finally finished it. Something to remember... Never ever use any RM services...
