£100 fine for parking in a disabled bay

I returned to my car earlier today to find a £100 fine for parking in a disabled bay whilst not displaying a badge.

I had fully paid for the parking but the badge was not on display as I had forgot to put it from the passenger seat onto the the dash, I understand the fine is to put off those that don't possess a badge. Is this worth appealing?

Certainly worth appealing, but you can't really blame them for giving you a ticket if your badge was not displayed.

Indeed, just seems I'm an extra 3.40 out of pocket as the fine for parking in any space without paying is the same, maybe I offer them 96.60?

If you have a genuine blue badge they will probably waive the fine but if you are one of the supercar types that park in the disabled bay to stop dents then just pay up

Also a Blue Badge holder and also did the same stupid thing and forgot to display it once. Appealed and was told that even though I have the correct badge, the fine was failing to display which I didn't so they upheld the decision and I had to pay.

Guess they weren't wrong but I was still pissed off mainly at myself for being so stupid.

A supermarket near me has a sign that states 'blue badge holders only.'
No mention of displaying it.

That detail is inside your blue badge holder. OP knows that, and recognised he did not display it correctly. I presume the parking warden will have an image of the top of the dash with no blue badge displayed.

I might be wrong, but I don't think private parking firms can 'fine' you for failure to display your blue badge.

Expensive lesson. They will have taken a pic of the dash; offence is not displaying afaik rather than not having the badge.

I recall a recent thread where the OP was insisting that a blue badge on the passenger seat counted as being displayed.
I cannot recall if that view was accepted and their parking ticket was cancelled.

I would however appeal to their kinder nature they may reduce it to £50.

If you're a genuine blue badge holder I'd suggest appealing on the basis that you are a holder, forgot to display, are truly sorry and won't do it again. It could also be that you had a recent bereavement, medical issue or suchlike and as such this contributed towards your forgetfulness ?

I'd expect if it was a council it would work, private company = lost revenue so good luck.

Possibly, but I think the Blue Badge scheme is not enforceable on private land. They could just as easily state you must be wearing red socks to park in that space. Essentially it's an unfair contract term.
