Insurance allows driving other cars - Even if in France?

Hopefully this will be a quick yes/no.

My insurance gives 3rd party cover for driving other people's cars.

Would this cover me to drive a car that resides in France and are French registered?
I'm guessing not, but just in case I thought it was worth checking.

(My wife's parents live there and are getting on in years. I was considering running errands for them in their sensible 4x4 rather than my completely impractical car.)

My policy specifies UK only for the 'other car' cover.

Why don't you get the people who own the car in France to check their insurance. Here in Portugal it is the car that is insured so anyone can drive it as long as they are legally allowed to drive and have the permission of the owner. No idea if same in France but surely the owner can find out..

That is the case with my Mother-in Law's car in France. The vehicle is insured any driver. So I get too drive a Renault Grand Scenic on a regular basis!
