Parking charge, is this legal

If you park at 17.30, and you return at 18.30 you get charged £3.50

I would argue, because they display a charge of £1.50 up to 18.00, as you parked before this you should only pay £1.50

You parked during one billing period and left during the next, so you have to pay for both. Bloody annoying. They've just pulled this stunt at my local train station. It was £3.50 from 8am to 6pm and free from 6pm to 8am. Now it's £3.50 from 8am to 6pm and £1 from 6pm to 8am, therefore, if you park at the station to commute to work by train and are likely to arrive back after 6pm you now have to pay an extra pound for encroaching into the 6pm to 8am period, so your parking has gone up 29% for the sake at what might be a quarter of an hour. This st doesn't happen by accident.

Tell me about it. My train car park (I use it about once a week) increased charges for the day from £6 to £9 this year in one go.

The car park above Sainbury's in Maidenhead is like that - we get forced to use it if work books the Permier Inn because the Holiday Inn is too expensive.

It's pay and diplay and it only seems to take payment per hour so I couldn't figure out how to pay for the £2 (or whatever it was) overnight period. I ended up buying two tickets which totalled about the right amount. Now I've signed up for the pay-by-phone thing and that works OK.

Newcastle Airport charges have changed since the last time I used them (couple of months ago). Drop off has increased 100% from a £1 to £2 for 10 mins, but more importantly I paid £6 for 22 min short stay, whereas I could of used the drop off area and paid £4 for 30 mins. Obviously difficult to read prices when your driving into a busy airport parking area, but 5 of my minutes must of been trying to find a space, whereas the drop off area was nearly empty. Lesson learned for next time, but airport parking is a license to print money.
