All for show since the only penalty was a trivial £370, which is nothing compared to what the others got. Funny handshake brigade?There are probably worse crimes out there that don’t get a prison sentence - watching Police Code Zero on C5 was an eye opener to say the least* - but I suspect he got away with it because his company and the 170 people’s lives could have suffered as a consequence.

- watching Joe Public pin coppers to the floor and repeatedly punch them or smashing a Policewoman’s head against a police car and get away with fines or community service just astounded me.

The aforementioned case and the other NY cases from earlier this year:R v JF - York Crown Court - June 2019
Guilty plea. 3 months custody suspended for 12 months.
R v DB - Teesside Crown Court - May 2019
Convicted after trial. 9 months custody suspended for 18 months.
R v NB - York Crown Court / Court of Appeal - April 2019
Guilty plea. 2 months custody suspended for 2 years (substituted on appeal).
R v MT - York Crown Court / Court of Appeal - Feb 2019
Pleaded guilty on the day of trial. 3 months custody suspended for 2 years (substituted on appeal).
Also in North Yorkshire last week. Motorcyclist convicted for PCoJ by covering his numberplate with his hand. He got 240 hours community service and a £2285 fine.

One you can buy, the other you need to be a Russian or Chinese secret agentSurely I have read this wrong - guy on the motorcycle who foolishly and assume instinctively covered his plate on the spur of the moment is made to pay almost 7 times the fine of a guy car in a car that consciously set out to avoid speed detection devices by having a range of devices/gadgets fitted.
Approx £2300 is fair old fine. Sure he would have got less had his plate fallen off and he had it tucked inside his leathers.

I know a magistrate and he takes great pleasure in throwing the book at business owners and management types who break the law and then come into his court with an arrogant "better than you" attitude. He's said that one thing they always have in common is that to the outside world they try to look like kind and charitable people, but underneath they're self obsessed psychopaths.He sounds like many of the lower orders on PH.
