Survey Before They Reduce London To 20 MPH

It does smack of lip service - the "Consultation" just captures what impact respondents think the limits will have on road use. It trolls out the accurate but irrelevant the slower you go the safer you are to imply that this will save lives. It of course gives no data from all the 20mph limits elsewhere completely avoiding that 20mph limits don't reduce casualties.

It's the usual carefully-worded survey which allows them to interpret almost all answers as support for whatever crap scheme they want to implement.

The consultation will be meaningless. However forecast results of a 20mph limit are:

1. Stabbing deaths and injuries will exceed road casualties.
2. Unlikely that the present Mayor will get re-elected.

I can only say to those of you who live in London, you elected the man who is doing this.

I believe by participating in surveys like that you are giving them credence, so non-participation is the only solution. It’s pure bullst.

I think Trump attacking Khan has probably guaranteed Khan a second term.

The 20 mph limits are sadly irrelevant as there is absolutely zero enforcement - hence I suspect why no change has been observed from when the same roads had a 30 limit.

And as has been observed in this thread, all it would do (if enforced) would be to limit peak speeds, given that the average motorised vehicle speed in London is 7 mph (at rush hour).

Just completed the survey, they're more interested in my gender, religion, ethnicity etc than my opinions of their pointless scheme. Waste of time, it will just happen, same as the ULEZ survey I took part in, they took no notice and went ahead.
