Madness indeed given the corner and other traffic. It does amaze me when going to the US that you frequently see much bigger trucks going that fast on relatively busy freeways.

In South Africa the trucks have no limiters. Having a truck and trailer sitting up your arse at 120kph in lane 3 flashing you to get out his way can be quite daunting !! Strangely enough we also suffer with lots of runaway trucks ploughing through congested off ramps when the brakes are toast and they can’t stop, one leaving 27 dead !!

That's because, like many, he panic brakes when he sees the camera.

It's one of the reasons stats show that speed cameras increase accidents

Most newer tricks have digital tachos that are card based, although that’s probably still easy to defeat.

From the stuff I've seen on telly ,police camera etc stuff ,the magnet gets stuck onto the gearbox to fool the tacho ,so

nowhere near the actual Tacho unit in the cab, whichever system is fitted.

Very likely, or why would he go so far over the limit knowing fine well it'll show up if the tacho was recording correctly? Magnets are old news now though, with second senders and OBD devices becoming established cheats.
