Generally they probably wouldnt ride next to the kerb and swerve in and out every time they came across a parked car. They would ride in the flow of traffic. Not when there is a designated cycle lane like in this instance though.

AH- our resident "safety " expert/ expert witness will sooon be on here to tells us that a "Police " vehicle doing this action, is not a hazard, but a safety feature. Just as a large block of concrete in a motorway lane won't cause any problems.

The scumbags used to always park fully on the pavement and semi hidden behind a wall at my bit. They have since made a proper parking place for the cash van but they parked like that for years before. I think someone must have complained or something.

Contest it on what basis? "I couldn't have been speeding, you were parked illegally!" ?

Given the van is marked 'Police' and is not a scamera partnership wkmobile I suspect it can stop where it wants. Happy to be corrected on this if wrong.

You are correct, they have an exemption when on Police business.

That said given how camera vans are already loathed by many it seems strange to make people even more resentful of them.

..and makes speeding in adjacent streets OK too. Ooh, let me see, yellow lines, dropped kerb, cycle lane, say 10 mph for each..yup, 60mph should be good to go.

Yes they should.
But sometimes the law allows them to do things that you can't do, so although they are doing something that would be unlawful for you it's not unlawful for them & therefore when they are doing it they are abiding the law.
(ie you can't walk around with a truncheon but a Police officer can).

At least its in an urban area where speeding can be better argued is a risk to others and also looks pretty obvious, as opposed to hiding on the side of a rural a road with a senselessly low limit operating as a cash printing machine.
