single lane & road markings?
Discussion
we've recently moved to a village that has some small single lane side/ access roads, none are marked as one way but the 'give way' lines at each end suggest that they should be (give way lines cross the entire width)
so the question is, should they be classed as such? & what are the rules/ laws/ insurance issues about using them (doesn't seem to be much about them in the HC)?
Only asking as i treat them as a normal road (like the locals seem to) & proceed with caution, but the (non local) F-i-L will only use them as if they are one way

round here a number of roads (in fact ALL the roads) have been resurfaced or are due to be under the PFI. Many roads that had centre white lines and cats eyes now no longer have them. What tends to hapeen (particuallry with motorists that are unfamilar or used to mainland roads) is that they drive down the centre when in fact there is plenty of room for two cars to pass and they did just that when there were broken white lines in the centre.
Neither of the lines in the photos you posted indicate the roads are one way.
The double lines in the first photo are give way lines. The single line in the second is an edge of carriageway line indicating the edge of the road at a non priority junction. There is no centre line on the side roads because they are too narrow.

for clarity that is the same road, just different ends of it ...but yeah, i don't think it is one way (i just think the council would prefer you to use it as one way)The double lines in the first photo are give way lines.
