An interesting one...

I sold a car recently to one of those places that say theywantanycar. In terms of the sale, they were on the ball, thorough, paid bottom dollar (as is their business model, I knew that...) and the cash was with me swiftly ready to be thrown away on whatever comes next.

On the day of collection, chap arrives, paperwork done, then car is removed, I help out by jumping in my other car (that was blocking him in) and reversing out, chap takes a little while (I'm 20 yards away an round a slight corner waiting to go back on the driveway when he's out) and eventually he appears, slowly, reversing around the curved driveway, does a big thumbs up out the window, before driving off.

I then drive back up onto the driveway, get out, and see he's put a big tyre track up the side of a wall, leading to a freshly created, wheel-shaped hole. I was convinced he'd be parking up to come back and say "sorry, I think I just drove through your wall" but nope, he's gone.

I've called several times (only to go around the switchboard several times), emailed (their complaints address, their info address, basically any address I can find, and despite their "complaints policy" guaranteeing a 48 hour acknowledgement, nothing).

Not sure what to try next to be honest, but I'm not particularly happy with the ignorance, as much as anything.

Feel better for venting though, so if everyone could now just pile in and explain how it's actually my fault or how there's absolutely definitely some kind of subversive sub-text, or more to this story, that'd be great. Thank you.

Serves you right for putting the wall there IMO.

How’s that?

Google "CEO email"

Find their CEO. Email them with a polite but firm email and the dates when you raised it. Include a single photo of the damage.

Be clear what you are expecting - an inspection ? £xxx for repair? What is your quantified loss?

Suggest 7 days for a response.

Why was he blocked in if you knew he was arriving?
Just curious like.

We didn't know he was arriving, we were told "within 5 days or sooner" and the car that was to be collected, was parked "first one in" on the driveway by the valuer, because having assessed it and paid us for it, he left with the log book, the keys, etc. Apparently that's normal.

Tweet at them with a photo and a short description of events. Widespread negative publicity usually provokes a response.

Do you have pics because this makes no sense?
