Are the M25 (West Side) Speed Cameras Ever Going Live?

Only I hear on an almost monthly basis that they are but then travelling that route daily hundreds go round at over 80 and I hear nothing in the press about them all being caught so I assume they still aren't live?

Why put them there if they are not to be used.

I read plenty when the ones on the East Side went live.

Maybe I'm wrong and they are now live but something tells me they aren't.

The Haldex 3 cameras (mounted off to the side) are very much alive and have been for some time. They enforce variable and 70mph limits The old overhead gantry cameras are dead but left as a deterrent I guess. Threshold on the new ones seems around +10mph imo. Personally I keep to within a few mph going past.

If you are referring to the chain facebook/email saying all cameras are set to issue tickets at 71mph then that is false, but technically of course they could if they wanted to.

I went past Heathrow last month doing about 58mph in a 50 and something went off right behind me ... was dreading the inevitable, but nothing yet, so would have had it by now I think.

This was 1amish so not a lot of traffic about - so definitely me I think.
