I bought a new Tesla Model S a bit over a month ago and unfortunately it’s had a string of problems. Tesla haven’t managed to fix them so I’d like to try to reject it, and would like to find a good lawyer to assist.

Is anyone able to recommend someone that they know to be strong in this area?

If so, could you mention here or PM me?

Thanks

Unless it's a difficult situation surely you can just reject it under the consumer rights act?

You lose the automatic right of rejection after 30 days, so it depends on how long ago "a bit over a month" turns out to be....!

It appears that Tesla like to 'buy back' cars to prevent them having to be exposed as Lemons. Have a search around, plenty of stories of Tesla's being taken back and the unhappy purchasers havng to sign NDA's. Try for a buyback...

I only noticed the problems a week and a half into ownership, as I drove it home, parked it, and flew off to my job elsewhere.

I had it straight back in when I noticed, they had it two weeks (replacing the roof and the modem) and after a week fighting with them to get it delivered back (again, I work overseas, I am only in the UK at weekends and they are closed then) I got it and found that the main faults werre not fixed, and it had a few new ones.

It's been seven weeks now since I bought it. I've told them that I want to reject it, left it at their Dartford service centre with the keys, but it's proving impossible to speak with anyone. There's no customer service email given, no UK CEO to write to, you have to contact them through a form on the internet, or the app, but neither gets any response.

I think that it's going to make everything easier if I pay for professional advice and representation, both to ensure that I don't make a mistake, and to avoid being filed under "likely to give up soon, so wait this one out".

I'm pretty disappointed, if they'd engaged with me from the start I may well have accepted a replacement, and stuck with the brand, but I've a very bad feeling at the moment about the time and effort that this might take, and I can't afford to give it my full attention because of the new job that I'm settling into.

I will do, thanks, and I'm pragmatic enough that I'll accept a bit of a haircut on what I paid to be able to walk away.

Anyway, if anyone does know a good lawyer or company, please do let me know, I prefer not to just pick a name from the phone book.

This is the most senior person in Europe that I can find; she is the EMEA sales director.

Tesla Motors Europe Ltd
Ms Myriam Attou
mattou@tesla.com

Alternatively, politely tweet Elon Musk (@elonmusk) who is notoriously online.

Thanks, that's appreciated. I'll also politely tweet Mr Musk, and hope he doesn't react like he did with that caver.

The 30 days is paused if the consumer requests a repair or replacement within the 30 days:

Indeed - though it wasn't apparent what (if any) steps the OP had taken in that regard at the time I posted the comment.

Still, it's a fair point that I didn't go on to qualify the 30 day comment, if he had already allowed Tesla to try to solve the issue.
