No left turn

Hello

Does anyone know if you can receive penalty points for turning left when there's a no no left turn sign on the traffic light?

It was the round red type of sign.

This is an image of the camera that I think flashed when I went left. Ive never seen one like this an I wouldn't have even thought anything of it but I'm sure I there was a flash as I made the turn.

Do you recognise that type of camera? I've never heard of a camera clocking illegal turns.

It's potentially a 'TS10' which is 3 points and is classed the same as going through a red light, the offence is failing to obey a traffic signal.

There was one recently in Hackney, London where so many people were getting done I think it was taken down until new signposting could be put up.

Not necessarily points, ban turns are enforced by the Council so you may only get a fine.

Hope so. Fine wouldn't be too bad but if it was 3 points could there be an offer of an awareness course?

I am fairly sure someone I know got a fine and points.

Its a bang-to-rights offence though, so no point in appealing and risking a bigger fine.

Nah 100% no way I could appeal it. Was a stupid thing to do. Just hope it's a fine only an no points

That's the pedestrian kerb sensor for the crossing.

Ah looking at the camera there I would say worry not, you will be fine.

They are pedestrian ones or used to give overviews for traffic congestion - we have tons of them on the roundabout near me where everyone is daily getting caught in what would be offences right under the noses of these cameras. (Entering yellow box, crossing stop line, red light jumping).

I once felt the same as you when I got caught in the yellow box and one of these cameras was right behind me.

You need to wait & see what offence they'd be pursuing to know if you could potentially get points.
