Speed awareness course

After nearly 25 years of driving with a clean license, today I will attend my first SAC for the dangerous speed of 81 on an empty straight dual carriageway with perfect conditions.
My own fault, no excuses but I’ll be interested to see if I can bite my tongue or be educated enough to suggest what the danger was.
4 hours of re-education awaits, wish me luck.

Did mine a year and a half ago; got lucky with the course instructors and group of people there in attendance and it was a painless afternoon, and it was good to refresh on a few things.
OH did hers 6 months ago and the instructor was a knob who kept singling certain people out and berating their answers.

Good advice to keep your head down, speak when spoken to, and don't assume you know more than the people running the course.

I found the course interesting and not at all preachy- worst bit was paying £3.50 for mediocre coffee at a Hilton

By the sounds of it you would be in the cheap age for insurance anyway so unlikely your premiums would go up that much I reckon.

And switch your phone off. That could lead to being kicked out, and failing. One woman on a course was caught texting, she was given a warning (after a few seconds of having to sweat).I’m going to bite my tongue or hope for a good instructor.
I've done a couple, some are better than others, including one where the afternoon was in a car 2:1 with an instructor, but I've learnt bits from all of them. I also enjoy playing the system slightly, you should see the look on their face you answer 'for fun' as a reason why people speed. It's a valid as 'running late' in my book.
Was really well run, entertaining and informative. Will it change my driving? Yes. As I don’t habitually speed it’s of no concern to adhere to limits, it taught me about managing stress which is clearly linked to my lesser desirable habits.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Clearly I got every what is the limit scenario right, was depressing to hear how many thought the limit on dual carriageway was 60 or 40 in a rural single carriage way.
Two areas I think they could improve on would be to spend time about motorway lane hogging or what a red x means above a lane. Not speed related but would start to get the message out.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed it.

You’re bright. Yes but it’s a captive audience so what’s wrong with adding two simple things that cause so many problems?
issues with speeding, not to learn how to drive on a motorway.
