Interesting Speeding Senario

Speed limit: 70mph
Time: Late at night
Traffic density: very low
Weather: Dry
So, i'd pulled a long shift at work (coincidently live at the other end of the dual carriageway to my place of work) and wanted to get home, so put my foot down, the road was empty and I always check what im passing and whats behind me to try and avoid being caught speeding. I maintained a speed of around 115mph, slowing down to about 100-105mph for junctions and areas that I deemed to be 'hot spots' for accidents. I came off the dual carriageway at the final junction, turned left and was proceeding to the next roundabout when I saw some blue flashing lights in my rear view mirror, so I pulled aside to let the police by. To my astonishment, they were infect pulling me over. They must have followed from a great distance, bc they said they had to do 130mph to catch up. They failed to give a recorded speed for my car, other than that they estimated that I was traveling over 100mph (I feel that the speed of their cop car is irrelevant as they were gaining ground on me. It's been almost 6 months now and I have received no letter (also didn't receive a ticket at the roadside... What can be expected, i'm guessing a 56day ban? If that's the case, can I fight it at all to reduce the ban, bc I need my licence for my job, I am a PSV/HGV mechanic that does a lot of break down and recovery work (I am also in the process of getting my HGV licence). I plan to plead guilt of going over 100mph if I do receive a summons and claiming hardship as my licence is paramount for my career... Would they rather loose my job and claim benefits or keep my job..?

Many many years ago I got stopped on a motorcycle for speeding, it was very late, clear & dry night, I was possibly doing in excess of 100mph. I got breathalysed (passed) & reported for between 56-58 mph (the limit was 40....)
Fast forward a few years & I got stopped again, for "it sounded like you were going fast" & "you tried to lose me in this estate!" I was dropping off my girlfriend & the bike although standard (Italian superbike) was quite loud, the copper recognised my address as I lived somewhere unusual & told me that I'd been nicked a few years back for in excess of 100mph, I said that it was actually 56-58mph, he said it was him who had stopped me & that was my reward for passing the attitude test or words to that effect.

How can you be prosecuted if they didn't record your speed?
Because they will have evidence that supports a charge of driving in excess of 100mph. It was late at night and presumably dark. So perhaps they followed at a distance when the OP was doing 115mph. Using two officers and a calibrated speedo will be enough. They might have said, we had to do 130 to catch up, but that won't be their evidence of the charge.Bert
