Ticket after being pulled over

Was pulled over by plod ad a laser, gave me a ticket that day. A month ago, nothing since, do they have to issue an intended letter of prosecution within 14 days?

You’ve had the 14 day bit effectively. They now have 6 months.

You would've been given a verbal NIP at the roadside. The police now had up to 6 months to commence proceedings if going to court. If a fixed penalty offer is offered this can sometimes take a while to come through too.

I had this in 2010. Stupid me caught at 'court' speed. Just as I was hoping it was lost in the system, summons came one Sat am, about 2 weeks before it could 'time out'!! Ruined the weekend!!

(6 points, no ban, SAC, fined but can't remember exactly how much now, very good solicitor, cost me more for them than the fine, I can remember that, and a new suit!!)

Always drive under the limit now, cruise control on m/ways set to 75 on speedo, no problems since. Gone past Bib at that and never had even a glance from them!

That'll be because your cruise set to 75 is probably only about 71 in real world speed.

That'll be because your cruise set to 75 is probably only about 71 in real world speed.

Exactly, checked against a TomTom and speedo reads slightly over. Don't think they can read under but stand to be corrected!

No idea if either/or now or back then but did the SAC and found it quite interesting. I'm a good boy now with a clean licence!!

If I’m setting the cruise I always do it to the speed indicated as anywhere from 74 to 78 on my sat nav (which should be a true(ish) speed.

All depends on my mood as to which one it is

My new cars have all been within 1 MPH off at that speed. Put it at 78 on the speedo, which is 77 on the GPS.

I always check using Waze , our brand new Lexus is doing 70 at an indicated 73 , my 64 plate BMW is pretty much bang on , no room for error

The age of the vehicle has little bearing in how close the speedometer reads to true speed
