Speeding on German plates

I come back to Blighty tomorrow and am on German plates, I know that on my French plates they can do nowt, but is it the same for German plates?

Coming back to Blighty as what? A UK Resident can't drive cars on foreign plates...

He lives in France.

I don't know if it catches up with them later but almost none of the foreign trucks stick to the 50mph average

speed limit on the M20 currently.

Well, I'm coming back as me, a foreign resident in France (with a french licence) who has just bought a car in Germany and who is awaiting his new French plates. In the mean time I wish to know if Germany has a reciprocal agreement with the UK. France doesn't so my French plates are far better, but maybe at the moment the fine will go to Germany and then on to me. That's all I want to know please.

I've hear from friends who have received German fines through the post for their UK registered vehicles.

I would therefore not be surprised if there was a reciprocal agreement between UK < > Germany.

Yes, there is a reciprocal between the UK and Germany.

Yes, there is a reciprocal between the UK and Germany.

Yup I believe it has been in place for a few years now, so I would expect fines to arrive. was not the case when I still lived in the Uk

if you get pulled at the road side expect them to start digging into your true identity (looking for your UK driver number) unless you can fake a good allo allo style accent.

So how is that comment helpful? I speak fluent French if that is your question, but as anyone with a brain would understand I am talking about average speed zones and cameras. On French plates I don't have to worry, but if the German ones are reciprocal then I'll take the old French car. Thank you to those who gave a sane reply.

Slightly o/t, but when I was younger (and easily led) I had some "German" plates with my UK reg on them. A neighbour told me I had done it so I wouldn't have to pay road tax or insurance

I've read recently French and I assume German cars won't get fthe fines by cameras whilst in UK whilst unfortunately we are now getting fones through on UK plates caught in France. (my mate got caught and fine in post a month ago from france. =

You see, this is the problem - conflicting advice. I know for sure that German cars speeding in France get fined, and that British cars in France get fined, but that conversely French cars in England are immune. Confusing isn't it? "Assuming" isn't really good enough. Anyway, it is imperative to let the ferry company know the registration number so we are going in the older Mercedes already on French plates. But is someone is 100% sure about German plates let me know please.

Entirely irrelevant. The law is based on whether you are UK resident, not whether you used to be UK resident years ago.

To be honest, and I speak as someone who knows all about getting knabbed for speeding, if everybody is bimbling along at a camera enforced 50 the last thing I want going on around me is some charging through the traffic.
