I’d say that the roundabout rights of way make no odds to the petrol station, so someone turning into the petrol station is the last to have right of way.

If you turn right into the petrol station from Oxford Road, you are entering the exit from the petrol station, not the Entrance.

Should carry on turning right at the mini roundabout to access the petrol station, or am I missing something?

1) Do you mean turning right across the two-way street? In which case that driver has to give way to on-coming traffic.
2) If you mean going round the roundabout for 270 degrees, and entering the fuel station directly from the roundabout, then usual roundabout rules apply. In this case, speed, positioning and conspicuous intent to others are key here. I would slow considerably as you pass any car coming from 90 degrees and 180 degrees. You need to keep yourself in their vision so they do not divert their attention to vehicle behind you and pull out into the side or rear of you.

Of course, no ‘right of way’ exists if an accident or serious inconvenience will occur.

The IN is "on" the roundabout.

So if you are travelling on Oxford road with the petrol station on your right hand side , and want to enter theough the "in" , which is on the mini roundabout, eoes the Petrol station "in" consitute an "exit" ?

Its hard to explain but hopefully simple if you look at the roundabout / in smile

This has been discussed many times before. Fuel stations rarely have signed IN and OUT routes. These may be established by local or ‘obvious’ layout, but they are rarely signed, and the onus is on each car driver taking care.

This one is, but nothing is stopping you turning right into the exit, in which case traffic on the other carriageway has priority, seems an odd question really. I suspect the locals know it, those u familiar to the area may not,

Looking at it, you have to cross the give way line to access the entrance which means having to go around the mini roundabout, doesnt it? You can't just dart across the wrong side of it.

Not following you on "In" constituting an exit, looks pretty clear.

That entrance is the "out".

If you turn into the IN which is on the roundabout, who has priority?

You're missing nothing. There is an Exit sign on Oxford Road and an Entrance sign by the roundabout. ( 'In' rather than Entrance may be better in my opinion). However there is much larger Exit sign on the car wash which could lead to confusion.

Off topic but I like the Google view as you pan around the roundabout showing Unleaded at 110.9 but go forward and it jumps to 127.9. Profiteeringbiggrin

You said that entrance is the "out", that's what I said, shouldnt be going in there. So you carry on to the roundabout, when your on the roundabout, and carry around the mini roundabout, and turn in to the Entrance, so I have no idea what you mean about priority.

I presume you are driving down Oxford Road passing the petrol station on your right, so as I said, go around the mini roundabout and drive in the entrance.

Should add, on approach, indicate right, changing to left carefully, watch out for blind drivers

These questions are usually because OP was cut-up by someone and not sure if they are right or wrong.

OP, what did you do?

It does seems a very odd question. A roundabout is a roundabout.

I was cut up, with the Mrs in the car.
She of course jumped to tell me off.

My Mrs thinks that the oncoming car has right of way (IE the one travelling "straight across") because the Petrol station doesn't count as an exit to the roundabout.

I think, if I am going around the mini roundabout , to enter the petrol station to the entrance marked "in" (infront of the car wash) , that I have right of way.

So i said I'd leave it to the PH collective to decide.

I will leave it like this, give way to cars from the right. If you were on the roundabout, you have priority over those joining it, and if others can't understand that the entrance to the petrol station is an exit off the roundabout, it's time for them to hand in their licence.

Good luck and drive safely.

Rightly or wrongly I agree with you though I consider it 'priority', not 'right of way'.

"No it isn't "
"Everyone on there just thinks they are the best"
"It's not an exit on the roundabout!"
"Well if that was true who do you have to give way to" [ie me turning right]

(To that, I said on coming vehicles turning right towards sainsbury's, and theoretically vehicles coming "out" through the "in" on the petrol station)

There is no arguing with my Mrs.
You are always wrong, even if you are right beyond doubt laugh
