Foreign truck driver damaged car.

My daughters car was hit by a Polish registered lorry when parked outside our house.
The driver did not stop at the scene but we found him parked up on a neighbouring trading estate.
Police were called but did not attend. He did however give insurance details to Police over phone and then to us.
Problem is ,daughters 1st insurance with £750 excess. Damage could be fixed for less but if going through insurance likely car will be written off and next years insurance loaded. Her insurance did not seem confident of getting claim against 3rd party which would mean lost excess payment.
Any advice or knowledge of similar instances would be appreciated.

I am by no means an expert on this matter. But my wife was hit by a foreign lorry who drove off. Several witnesses provided statements to that fact and we had a photo taken by a passer by, which didn't have the reg, but did have the company name.
My wife got the car repaired through insurance and paid the excess. Insurance company chased the foreign company for 12 months but to no avail however my wife kept the pressure on the insurance company the whole time. They eventually refunded her excess and put the accident down as no fault and with no impact on her NCD. i suspect having the witness statements clearly stating her car was stationary at the time of the crash and that the lorry driver was totally at fault helped. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply, there is some hope then. I have sent a mail to the UK branch of their insurers as advised by MIB and will await a responce.My wife got the car repaired through insurance and paid the excess. You might be able to find a bumper in the same colour on eBay.
Can't tell from the pic if it needs more than that repaired.
It is more than the bumper, Scraped and dented rear quarter and wheel arch.Can't tell from the pic if it needs more than that repaired.
The bumper is now reattached and looks a lot better even though some of the fixings needed to be reinforced with tie straps.
As to finding a bumper the correct colour ? It appears this may be the rarest colour option for that model of Fiat 500. Jive Blue.
Should have bought a White one
Probably now stay how it is unless I get some joy from 3rd party insurance.

I had a very similar incident a few years ago.
I ended up going through MIBI to claim off the foreign drivers insurance, rather than my own.
I think it took about 18-24 months to sort out, luckily my car was still driveable. Eventually got a cheque in the post after much chasing.
Mine happened near my work, lorry driver stopped and gave me all his details with no hassle, there was no hassle from MIBI or the insurance co either, it just took forever to get sorted.
If I had claimed on my own insurance I would have lost my no claims discount until the claim was settled and then I would have had to reclaim all the extra I had paid in inusurance in the mean time, I opted to drive around with a dent for a while (actually it is still there )

I assume this was 2015 or earlier as now MIB will not take the claim on if you have fully comp insurance. They have given me a contact for the insurance company in the UK from whom I await a reply.I ended up going through MIBI to claim off the foreign drivers insurance, rather than my own.
