Was a proper shoe horn job, but it went in.....just.

Interestingly (or not), that's at least three times recently the BBC has specifically referred to the make of the car in their articles. The other day it was mentioned that a man was 'killed after being hit by BMW', and last month it was 'BMW deliberately set on fire'.

I terrified myself with a mattress on roof bars when i was younger. I had two straps left to right, two straps front to back. Was ok till I started getting some speed up on the M32 (before it was limited to 50 for ages), flexing up and bouncing around - nothing rigid to really hold it steady. Had to slow down and come off at the next junction and go the backroads...

Unfortunately Brits like to buy overpriced foreign tat so there's lots of them on the roads.

I once had a 3ft drawer divan and mattress and a 9ft curtain pole in my Mk2 Granada estate and still managed to close the boot lid.

You can get a couple of Saturn V rockets in the back of a mark 2 Granada Estate and still have room for the shopping.
