Tracing a car after an accident , privacy law question.
Discussion
Interesting question arises after watching the most recent "Harry's Farm" vlog, someone takes out a stone wall and gate. Harry Metcalfe contacts the police and recovery company for the details for his insurance claim, they apparently can't give out the details because of new privacy laws. So is this correct or the law of unintended circumstance.
Here are the seven key principles...

As soon as people hear GDPR, they get their knickers in a twist without actually knowing what it's about.

You'd imagine that the police and recovery company are in very different places wrt GDPR in this case.
How would the recovery company be in a place to determine that you had a right to the data for the valid purposes of a third party claim?
Whereas the Police will have a mechanism via the information they had collected (the details of where the accident took place and what third party property was damaged for example) to determine whether you should be the recipient of the info or not.
