The employer may or may not intervene, but the firm hand the running of the car park to others so they can concentrate on their main business. If he goes down the route of appealing to his employer, it will be a case of how (in)dispensable he is to them.
Ok, just got a bit more of what happened from him.
The permits are a recent thing to stop people using his work carpark while they use the nearby railway station. He said his permit had dropped off the dashboard but could be seen if looking through the window. Thats all I've got so far other than he's worked there and used his car park for the last 4 years.

He's done the wrong thing by not responding in the 4 months since getting it but I guess his only option now would be to ask his Employer to try to help by confirming he works there and does have a permit although he didn't display it (the "charge" relates to not displaying it which is true and no parking warden would be expected to peer through windows of all the cars to see if there might be a permit displayed) Technically he is bang to rights as he wasn't displaying a permit whether he had one or not, he wasn't displaying it.
Unfortunately he's only just told me about this, and yes i understand about the permit not being on the dash anymore. Ive had the same thing with parking tickets, leave it on dash, shut car door and it gets blown off onto the floor. Why i always check after.

His employer probably gave him a sticky holder with the permit. His vanity or some other silliness then made him decide to just leave the permit on the dash instead of using the supplied item which was specifically designed to avoid the scenario which has now occurred. He then decided to ignore previous contacts and has now whined to a parent when things started to look serious. eybic said:

As suggested get him to ask his employers to get it cancelled. This is just a begging letter from a debt collection agency so no need to contact them.
You then need to wait and see what happens.
It's highly unlikely they will go to court since he has permission to park.
If they do then several on here can help, or direct you to Web sites who can.
Go back to his employer. They will be able to get it cancelled (in 99.9% of cases).
Ticket is from UKPC. That's the company that forged photograph timestamps in an attempt to issue tickets in a retail park. Got banned from.obtaining registered keeper details from DVLA.

Ok been waiting for one of these replies. Vanity over a parking permit ? Yes that's right, it all down to vanity. You got it well done.
I've been a single parent to them for a long time, he's 23 and yes old enough to sort it but I'm just trying to help my boy. He's not well at the moment so I said I'd try and help him with it. Yes he's at fault leaving it too long absolutely. I'm just seeing if there's anything that be done, if not fair enough. Thank you

My employer gave me a little holder for my permit. Lasted 3 days before dropping off windscreen and not staying stuck on. I must be vane too then. OP, you say he's worked there for 4 years? That must mean he's an adult. Why is he asking you to sort out something so simple?
