Are machetes legal to own in UK?
Discussion
In Latin America machetes are a ubiquitous tool, people use them for everything from cutting grass and pruning flowers to clearing rainforest and killing snakes. Only rarely are they used as weapons.
I have often thought a machete would be very handy for cutting back the hedge in my UK garden, way more efficiently than using shears. But they seem to be seen in the UK as weapons rather than garden tools.
So, am I allowed to bring a machete to the UK and use it in my garden?
Thanks.

dosent seem to be an issue, you would need to be aware of being in public places with it and the like,

Awaiting the "Why not just buy a hedge trimmer" comment...
Why use a complicated, expensive power tool when a $4.65 machete does the job just as well and never breaks or needs plugging in?

Don't ask me, I quite agree! It was only a few months ago I sold my hand forged Katana blade. The paramedic had to glue my fingers when I had an accident oiling the blade once...
Naughty paramedic, not supposed to glue wounds to the hand..
