Shared Ownership - Driveway Purchase

Quick question for you all please.
Girlfriend and I own a semi detached house, but oddly the driveway / parking next to our house belongs to the house two doors down...
We approached the neighbour about buying the driveway, which they were receptive to but the complication is that their house is shared ownership.
Obviously the owner cant sell to us without the agreement of the trust who owns the house, and said she will reach out to them to see if this is possible.
Whats the opinion of the masses on here as to how feasible this is?
I think its unlikely to go our way but its worth a shot.

No reason why not just make sure you have decent legal representation .
Someone I know had a similar situation , a random garage and driveway next to their house that belonged to someone 2 doors down.
They refused to sell it, which prevented a major buy out of several houses by a developer so they weren't very popular

It probably wouldn't be possible just to buy the proportion which the neighbours own, so you'd need to get the housing association to sell as well. It may well help to have them involved though, they will be much more objective when it comes to setting a price than 'Joe Public'. The neighbour may well request a rather inflated price if it's obvious the OP needs to buy the land to build the extension.
At least the OP has been told by the neighbour that the driveway is shared ownership. When I bought my first flat, the seller failed to tell either the estate agent or their solicitor that they only owned 40% of the flat they were selling! This was discovered by my solicitor at a fairly late stage, and caused quite a bit of delay getting the paperwork sorted out.

Ours doesnt, which is a ball ache.
I picked up some rechargable LED lights when they were on offer at screwfix a while back so at least I have workable light.

I was thinking more about charging in a few years time when we will all be driving electric. Seems a bit short-sighted. I would quite like to buy a flat but I can see charging EVs being a big issue in the near future.
Owning the driveway adjacent to your house, proposed in the opening post, so you can park and charge, seems far more sensible.
