Speed Awareness Course - record of check now kept for 3.5yrs
Discussion
Morning,
Have my 120,000mile speed awareness course visit. My understanding was that you were eligible (providing within relevant speed threshold) for a SAC every 3yrs from date of offence. In my latest offer it states:
'A record of this check will be retained for 3.5yrs. It will be used to decide if you will be offered a course should a similar offence occur in the future.'
Does the 3yr window still apply or have they cunningly increased the time period to 3.5yrs..
Cheers

Presumably it's so they can check whether you were within the three year limit at the date of the offence even if the decision isn't made for a few months.Have my 120,000mile speed awareness course visit. As far as I know its 3 years from when you were offered a course, not from when you do the course. That would be why they keep records for 3.5 years.
Close - it's three years between the dates of the offences for which the courses are offered which is the important thing, not the dates you actually do the courses or the dates the offers are made.Hence they need to keep records for a bit longer than three years, as they might need making the decision on whether to offer you a course several weeks or even months after you were actually caught speeding, so need to know about any course linked to an offence three years
before that.

All your answers should be available here. If not, ask there, not on PH.

And the answer isn’t available there as I’d already looked. https://www.ndors.org.uk/
