Parking on private road

We stayed at an air bnb over Christmas to visit relatives (no room at their inn). Air bnb was lovely , located on a private road. Owner had a small drive so we parked one car up the road. Woke up on the morning of 27th to find a parking ticket from an independent parking company. No road markings, no curb markings, no signage nearby. I did find, about 400 - 600 metres down the road, where you enter the private road, some signage relating to parking. Not lit in anyway so didn’t notice as we drove back to the Airbnb in the dark. Was a bit miffed to say the least. Not sure I want to hand over 100 of my hard earned pounds. Any advice on rules about parking fines on private roads. No obstruction was being caused and not parking anywhere near someone’s property

Assume you took photos of the lane and lack of signage.

Absolutely this, and ask why they didn't warn you? Their business will be fked if all their guests end up with tickets, so it should be in their interest to get this sorted for you.

If the owner of the AirBnB are aware of the parking restrictions and didn't warn you make sure you rate your stay appropriately and leave feedback for future guests.
