What would this have been.. on the M25 today?

Just curious really and interested if anyone has any ideas..
Around 11am today a convoy of two liveried X5’s in front of one medium transit sized police van (semi-liveried, not a typical larger police van) with two other but plain white unmarked X5’s at the rear. X5’s on blue lights.
They were taking up two lanes of traffic, the X5’s straddling either side of the white lines and constantly shielding the van in a very defensive way. Three constantly around the van and one of the liveried X5s out front clearing traffic. Seemed very serious, driving unlike I’ve ever seen anything before.
Followed them for a good while like this from around junction 6 to 4 (or might have been 3) where they came off very last minute in a slick way.
Anyone have any ideas? Maybe a very high profile prisoner or something else?
