OK, I appreciate it is a different country, but had no idea they did that in other parts of the world.

Also interesting how the electronic data gave the authorities what speed he had been doing leading up to the incident and also that he wasn't wearing his seat belt. I bet it also gave throttle position, steering angle and all sorts of other data to the police.

It is the way of the future (well, present, I suppose) but wait for someone to say it is against human rights or point out that is a good reason to drive older cars etc.....

Seems like a sensible compromise when people can receive custodial sentences for motoring offences... In the news we see people getting locked up for what amounts to speeding (but is charged as dangerous driving) with corresponding loss of an otherwise useful contributor to society*.

Perhaps in Canada this is an alternative to a suspended sentence.
