Think I've been snapped - Traffic Light Camera in Manchester

Evening all, was just on my first trip outside since last Tuesday and chose to drive rather than walk anywhere as it's still quite congested in my area (people are not staying in!) Driving down Princess Rd towards city centre approaching the Wilbraham Rd junction where the car in front sharply brakes to turn left. I brake also but by this point I'm already past the white line and watch the traffic lights go from amber to red. Naturally I am stressing now about whether the red light camera at this junction got me or not!

Do these things usually flash?

If you were beyond the stop line before the lights changed from amber to red, you've nothing to worry about.

You were over the white line?

1) The offence is crossing the white line against red.
2) The sensors are either side of the white line, so if you were already over the white line you can't set off the camera.

And they'd be visible in my rear view wouldn't they? If so, there weren't any today. But damn, I really do hate that feeling not that it happens often especially down a road I drive down every single day

They are very bright, pretty hard to miss them

I had a very similar experience a few years ago. Was on Oxford road by the theatre, was turning left but prevented from doing so by hoards of people enjoying the Manchester nightlife crossing on a red man. Had no option but to wait (across the line) whilst said pedestrians ignored the lights. Got flashed, had to attend a course to avoid the points, still bitter.

Goes without saying now, but had you stayed put (even with half your vehicle over the stop line), you'd have been fine.

Do you know the road and the unpredictability of the drunken masses on a Friday night in central Manchester?

I'd say in my situation it was pretty unforeseeable!
