Oops, M4 Cameras after Bristol do work.......

Had a nice letter of intended prosecution from A+S police, for 89MPH between J19+J20 last Sunday at 3PM.
I would have been coming back from Bristol after dropping a hire van back.
I can remember it being very quiet, as the pictures show.
Ive always been of the opinion that the camera's were only live while a lower speed restriction was in place, and have been much faster before (i like to give her a quick squirt just after the 40mph ends).
But seems i was wrong!
Oh well, its been some years since my last points, so im probably due some!

You break the law and post about it. "Giving it a quick squirt" belongs on a track. I'm sorry you got caught, I really am, but you deserve the fine and the points just as anyone else would, and to do this at a time like we are in with COVID-19 and the stress that emergency services and the police are under, feels even more disrespectful than ever.

ds switch them on and off to suit. 89 on a road as empty as that is hardly a safety issue, especially in a car totally capable of doing way more. Expect the scaredy-cats from mums net to troll you mercilessly now, as no doubt they can determine how essential your trip was, and how serious you take social distancing, and how often you clap the nhs for doing their job just from a speed camera shot.... good luck mate, hope the fine isn’t too bigTurbobanana said:

Why? Not really sure 89mph on a motorway is going to stress any emergency services and the police. It may have stressed a camera operator. They probably got the car in front as well.I think he was just warning everyone else they are live at all times which will probably encourage others to drive slower!
Obviously I don’t condone that sort of speed but Ive also always been of the opinion that camera's were only live while a lower speed restriction was in place too? 
I wonder if you may have got away with that if you were in one of the outside lanes without the camera markers on?
At least you were not speeding in a stand out, attention grabbing car.....

89mph in that car and on a road like that will feel very pedestrian.
Yes, the OP seems to have exceeded the speed limit for that road, and yes, the OP is probably bang to rights, but that should be no excuse for your sanctimonious preaching.

You're over egging the severity though. 89mph on a fairly empty motorway is hardly the most dangerous of acts. Plenty of people around where I live have been spending every day hammering, sawing and drilling and they're far more likely to end up in hospital than someone speeding a bit on a quiet motorway.
If the OP had been murdered, the last images of him from cameras wouldn't have been so clear.
