Have you a Prime account payable monthly? Usually when I have had the same issue you had (on items costing £15, £180 and £50) offering to cancel your Prime direct debit gets you to the next level of customer service bots, especially if this was a "marketplace" item.

I have had one item that took eight weeks to refund recently as Amazon wanted it back and it seemed to get stuck in a couriers depot according to the tracking, which was a bit unusual as all direct Amazon refunds / returns I have had in the past have happened when the return parcel is scanned into the return delivery network.

I'm guessing its sold by a company via the Amazon marketplace and not sold by Amazon themselves?

If its come from anywhere but Amazon they won't be interested.

Speak to your payment card provider and do a chargeback.

That’s amazing. Normally when a customer does so much as blink amazon refund and leave us out of pocket as a merchant. I’m amazed that they won’t do the same in this case. When you opened the case did you say “not required “ or did you make it clear that the item was faulty?

I've always found Amazon really helpful, even with A-Z sales. Do you have a history of returns?

Why don't you send him the £50 then and I'm sure he'll forget all about it. rolleyes

No one wants to lose money but there comes a point when the stress and frustration far outweigh the monetary loss.

Have you spoken to anyone, the few times I have tried I have got a positive result from from speaking to someone rather than using the chat.

By 'eck if only PCN notices were £50 instead of £60 on average then we could lose all the threads on here about them as people could just throw £50's around as it's not worth the mither fighting them.

I know being obstructive and unhelpful with limited experience in the relevant areas is a fun game on the internet, but Amazon's A to Z guarantee covers specifically this and if they have acknowledged that a refund is due and has not been received (Point 3(iv)) then it should have been covered a long time back.

Amazon are indeed the right place to address these things as they have breached their own guarantee terms.

How much do you spend on a night out? I'm not saying £50 isn't worth trying to get back, but 3+ months of effort with no obvious progress?

Depends on what 3 months of effort means. 65 man-days plus overtime or 3 phone calls/online chats.

Do you think, that might influence the way they treat the OP?

I personally only ever order from amazon directly and I've often had no problems with returns - infact once it's scanned by the local post office with the return postage label then I've immediately gotten my refund!

Pretty much my experience as well.

If you deal direct with Amazon, customer protection appears to be bullet proof.

Amazon are responsible as that's who the OP bought it from.
