No v5

Sent off for V5 early MAY spoke to DVLA Swansea this week who duly informed me that dept dealing with post applications for logbooks is CLOSED anyway out of this need V5 to tax and put original number plate back on car TIA.

well you basically got told all you need to know, I don't pistonheads can help much sadly.

DVLA is pig to deal with in general never mind now during the pandemic when they're barely functioning for some reason.

Regarding the tax can you not take your new keeper slip to the post office and pay cash? I did the same as you bought a car used and sent the V5 off and paid 6 months tax using the new keeper slip.

spoke to the woman at the post office and she said sometimes the online vehicle transfer doesn't work for unknown reasons as I tried to do the V5 online first.

I appreciate it doesn't help with your swap of plate but at least you can use the car on the road legally.

I've had a new v5c and a v750 arrive in the post over the last few weeks, so they are doing something

Took a private plate off my daily 30 May, still waiting for

1/ The plate retention document, (received email confirmation)

2/ Confirmation I no longer own the car.

Pretty sure you can't do address change online sadly. I had to send mine off - not had it back yet!

Ah, I guess I underestimated the DVLA and their level of technology, I was able to change the V5 address online! (Good shout SS2). Seems you can do your licence change there as well, so no need to send the paperwork off now.

DVLA website states you can use a V62 and tax at a post office.

You will likely then end up with two new V5C's in due course but at least you can tax the car and use it.
