Car Insurance Accident Query
Discussion
Hello,
A few weeks back a van hit the side of my car whilst it was parked up, they never stopped and luckily I had CCTV of the incident but I was unable to capture the registration plate.
The local police got involved and managed to work out where the van was delivering to, and also the company that delivered the goods. (The Van had no decals on it at all)
Is it worth phoning my insurance to get it sorted? As I still only have the company that delivered it, and the house they delivered to.. I guess they'll know which driver delivered to that house on that day..
My car is a 2009 plate car, and I'm worried that if they can't do anything, they'll put my premium up anyway?
Cheers Guys

You have the date, time, video, details of the company that delivered the goods and also the address they were dropping to.A few weeks back a van hit the side of my car whilst it was parked up, they never stopped and luckily I had CCTV of the incident but I was unable to capture the registration plate.

Call the company. Explain the situation. They should do the rest.

Thanks for the reply, should I phone my insurance company?
I meant the company that they were delivering for - inform them that a vehicle operating on their behalf has been in a collision and they have failed to report that collision. That way when they eventually fess up there's no paying your excess up front and they'll deal with it quickly for you.Pegscratch said:

Thanks, I'll do that just now, should I also inform my car insurance company?
In due course. You want to try and claim from the other party's insurance, and inform yours when they have accepted liability. Failing that then if you wish your vehicle to be addressed then you can contact your insurers but I'd personally exhaust all avenues with the third party before taking that path.Need suggestions for the accident of a friend's car.
Bumper kissing in city. Happens when following too closely and taking eyes for a moment.
Car 1 (friend)- Mercedes Benz 1.8 (2010) clc rear ended car 2 ( Audi A1 )
Impact at around 15 mph.
Both of them leave after exchanging details. Photos taken with faces. More damage is on car 1 since it braked and hit from behind. Car 2 showed only bumper scratches and maybe inside clip damage.
Initial inspection on car 1 shows damage to bonnet, bumper, grill, inside plastic frame of bumper, bonnet not opening, pull release not working.
It's his mistake anyway. Car 2 driver left after saying he just needs repair cost for rear bumper and also said he isn't bothered to claim insurance or report since it is minor and would cause more premium for car 1 driver.
Maybe car 2 driver is understanding or maybe he isn't a named driver in that car.
So car 1 driver is not interested to increase the insurance premium and have a bad mark in insurance.
What are the options and what would be the repair costs for this Benz since it requires new bonnet, bumper with painting.
Is write off a sensible thing Since the car cost in auto trader is around £6000. But then to write off insurance premium would also go up. What to do .... Please help.... Thanks.

@legendracer - I would report and make a claim with the insurance company.
Sounds like your mates car is going to cost upwards of £2k to fix properly, so you might aswell let the insurance take care of the other car aswell.
Whilst the other driver doesn’t want to claim, it still needs reporting. He will just be left with a no fault claim left on file. I’ve had one before and it made bugger all difference to my premiums.

General note guys - you should inform your insurers, its a condition of your policy.
BUT, keep tabs on progress with them and make sure it gets resolved, or some months later your renewal premium could be a lot higher than expected, due to an unresolved claim on the policy.
And thanks to the CUE database, every other insurer will know this too.
