My town has gone down hill over the period of this pandemic.
I moved to where we are about 6/7 years ago as a considered nice area and I've not seen half the amount of yobs, red bull fuelled 12 year olds and general idiots with zero regard for people who they live around.
Incidents seen walking the dog all of 30 mins last night....
-Boy and girl in transit van driving 40mph past wrestling with each other in a "loving" embrace, the boy clearly not paying one bit of attention on the road I mean wtf
-Two blokes driving down a busy main road on bmx bikes wobbling about, just no regard for anyone but themselves
I see endless kids hanging about playing drill music on speakers at full blast, teens on mopeds (how can they afford these now days?).
I'm just not seeing what I've been seeing and cannot get my head around it, we live just outside bournemouth so I'm hardly in a metropolitan area.
Yet bottom of this I only see police at the side of the road with a speed gun or informing the public about rogue traders.
Please help reassure a bloke who moved out to get a quiet life after years of this rubbish in the metropole that this will get better once normality resumes.

Yep the same in my area a few months back nice and quite now pretty much a war zone we back on to a small park with an access road around for garages in the past week we have had the litter bins set alight keep fit instuctors and clients parking in the access road blocking garages youngsters at all ours of the day and night sitting in cars puffing weed when the boys in blue are summoned they take so long to arrive the perps have long gone.

I moved to a similar town around 10yrs back, close by Bournemouth. On the surface it's very pleasant & all that. Scratch the surface & it's very scummy. Full of rubbish. I don't live there anymore. We've lived in our current house for 7 years and have noticed the same.
Part of me wonders whether it's a combination of:
- social media making everyone aware of things you wouldn't normally hear about
- the fact I'm often out walking the pram so see more
- the longer you live somewhere, the more you notice

Much nicer around here.
Lots of families still out walking and cycling, everyone queues nicely for the Couplands buns.
Lidl still has cheap booze and Waitrose across the road has nice food.
But then again I live in the Hull suburbs, which PH contributers tell me is a s
t hole.
They're right of course, don't come, it's terrible and smells!

I am more worried that on my former quiet cul de sac, about ten houses down from me, a 'challenging' family moved in about two months ago.
Cue loud parties (70s music at least) and women pushing kids in prams with Doberman dogs chained to the pram, their teenage kids doing wheelies on the pavement as they all go. Massive caravan on the drive and their friends stay overnight(s).
Being ten houses down, the noise and above eye candy was not of real concern as it was a tad muted.
Problem is, last two weeks 4 neighbours to the clan above have put their houses on the market....

Drugs seems to be a common theme here, this is a numbing agent to a lot of unfortunate people In society, alcoholism also a big problem set to get worse. I saw some guy the other day coming out of coop at 8am drinking a tin of Jack daniels happy as merry.
This will only get worse as the reality of less income and pleasentries being available to certain people.

Love my village, since lockdown we seem to have come together more. People are more friendly, even the kids are polite. So from my point of view everything's just fine.
Yep same here. It was a great place to live anyway but if anything it's got better still. Mind you I did see some beatniks playing rap music on their walkie talkies the other day; hopefully that's not a sign of things to come. fourstardan said:

They wouldn't end up under the wheels of my car, were I driving, because I'd give them plenty of space, overtaking fully into the oncoming lane when clear to do so.No doubt You'd be the first to scream innocence if they ended up under your car?
Nothing wrong with cycling along a main road, unless it's a motorway or otherwise banned cycling. I've been on the A31, A35, and A350 lately. Not for very long, admittedly, but they were the most convenient routes for my purposes. Perhaps the A338 next?
