Legalities of parking on this road with DYLs

Walking through an industrial estate, I noticed this bit of road with rather incomplete double yellow lines.

What are the legalities of parking in the areas where the DYL are so worn they are absent?



If ticketed, could it be reasonably argued that given the lines are absent the ticket is unenforceable?

They don't look worn, it looks like they just dotted the lines to give the effect of double-yellows. If it's an industrial estate then it's unlikely to be under council control, so you'd need to look for signage to see what the rules are.

Looks like there were cars parked there when they tried to paint them, hence they breaks in them.

My understanding is that if the lines are not drawn properly, complete with end bars, then they are not enforceable. But IANAL

Didn't that change in the TSRGD 2016 update ?

That's interesting. I don't remember seeing any signs.

The lines do not have to be perfect & continuous, they have to be substantially compliant.

Each case will rest on it's own facts.
