Pensioner gets done for 35 in a 30, appeals and loses

I can appreciate being sore at getting caught at 35mph, but sucking it up would be wiser. Looks like our old friend Pitmansboots or whatever he was called on here was involved.

I can understand the 3 points, but why the £160 fine as well? Any ideas?

I'm assuming that there is "previous" here, or there would have been the option to pay £100 to sit in a hotel conference room for four hours.

Perhaps a google search of Steven Steve Callaghan Road Safety Support RSS Ltd Limited will afford a means of discovering the history of this individual.

CPS - “ CrimPR 19.2(3)(d) also obliges all experts to disclose to the party instructing them anything (of which the expert is aware) that might reasonably be thought capable of undermining the expert’s opinion or detracting from their credibility or impartiality.”

“Serious disclosure failings” at Northampton Crown Court clearly falls into the aforementioned and if not mentioned then easy to exclude.

Also, arguably an “expert.”

35 is the point at which you get a ticket, I guess he had bad or no advice if he decided to appeal it!

Lucky he was just hit for £620 costs, that is the starting point for a contested trial so CPS have not gone for the cost of the expert.

No one knows or no one wants to say? Is it a big secret? The closest I have come to is him claiming to be a member of IET (?) when he wasn’t.

I seem to recall that Pitmansboots would get challenged a lot on here. However this is PH, debate is free, and we're all experts.

Out in the real world, if he's not an Expert, would a defence solicitor not be able to put somebody up against him to challenge and disprove his assertions?

If you're at risk of losing your licence or facing a heavy fine surely it would be worth the investment and a straightforward task to expose him as incomepetent?
