German driver fingers speed camera, receives $2,300 fine
A German man managed to increase a speeding fine by 75 times by extending a single digit toward the camera.
The BMW X5 driver was caught doing 81 km/h in a 70 km/h zone, which regularly would’ve cost him just 20 Euro ($31), but since he flipped that old birdy at the lens, the officials decided to tack on a little extra, jacking the fine to 1,500 Euros and suspending his license for a month. A guy in the U.K. did this years ago.
Camera van on bridge catches him speeding.
A while later he sees another camera van on the same bridge, he goes under the bridge at the exact speed limit.
Only trouble was on the approach he gave the van the middle finger with both hands.
Gets prosecuted for driving without die care as both hands were off the wheel.

It's classified as "insult" under section 185 of the German Penal code (From https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/englisch_stgb/e... ):

The penalty for insult is imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year or a fine and, if the insult is committed by means of an assault, imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or a fine.
In Germany, "flipping the bird" is viewed as being extremely offensive, which the driver should be aware of - The German authorities do not take it lightly!
Similarly, "Flipping the bird" is also an offence here in the UK, covered by "Disorderly Conduct", which could get you £1000 fine.

But I’m sure the story I recall was longer ago than this one, and I suspect this is a different one to the one you recall too.
At least the driver in the link above was smiling when he did it, obviously just a cheeky chappy...

I've never seen "class" and "BMW X" used in the same sentence before... I recall a biker who had a habit of flipping off a front facing camera on a regular basis, the (UK) police made a point of tracking him down from his distinctive bike and leathers. Not saying it's the best use of police time but earns a "what did you think was going to happen?!"
